Yet long before modern thinkers attempted to answer it, the wisest man of antiquity, Solomon, posed the same question in the book of Ecclesiastes. After wrestling with wisdom, wealth, work, and pleasure, Solomon concludes not with despair, but with hope — a hope that is fulfilled and made perfect in Jesus Christ.
